Weasel words, weasel tweets, weasel people

I’ve just read somewhere that weasels suck eggs. Really? Well, I guess so. They’re predators after all. But when I think of things that suck, it’s never weasels and certainly not eggs. People usually suck, and eggs usually are cracked.

There were some other people before me who found the fact that weasels suck eggs intriguing or, at least, interesting.

Shakespeare for one. He came up with this line:

“I can suck melancholy out of a song as a weasel sucks eggs.”

Which can be done if you’re a countertenor.

And Theodore Roosevelt who was a nature-lover and probably very familiar with weasels and weasels sucking eggs. He used the term WEASEL WORDS when debating other politicians. Weasel words are words that suck the life out of the words next to them, just as a weasel sucks the egg and leaves the shell.

By the same principle of the weasel sucking eggs, nowadays there are WEASEL TWEETS – tweets that suck the life out of all the other tweets. Not to mention there are WEASEL PEOPLE – people who suck the life out of other people leaving just a shell, aka body. Weasel people are not to be confused with vampires, which aren’t weasels or people.
