Whew, it’s 2017!
Well, it’s 2017. I never thought I’d make it.
The end of 2016 was so busy, what with holding my Super Duper Sweepstakes (thank you to all who entered!), and my entrepreneurial endeavors with MistyMacBooks.com, and the pictures I needed to take for Christmas, and all my personal responsibilities, and some unexpected opportunities that came up, and needing to write, and finding time to workout, and stealing personal health moments, and… and… and everything else that was taking thirty-eight hours a day.
Whew, the end of 2016 was a busy time, but now it’s a new year – the first cloudy morning of a new year – and I can take a break.
Catch my breath.
Take a moment to smell the proverbial roses.
2016 is gone, and now I have a moment to think, to plan what I’m going to do in the new year. 2017 is going to be different. I’m going to be organized. I’m not going to run around like a mad woman with my hair on fire.
I’m going to get things done.
But looking around my office, I can see that I’m living in a mess. There’s two months worth of detritus gathered around me. It’s the built-up sediment of my business that has collected at the edges while I’ve been running around doing other things. My desk is covered with stuff (a flyer saying I could win a $500 dollar gift card, an invitation to a party that I missed, a bottle of raspberry jelly, granola, some make-up, cords for many devices snaking through notebooks, etc, etc, etc). There’s a fan leaning against the wall that I was using to make things blow in my pictures, and there’s a bicycle behind me that I used in my Christmas pictures. I have some dead flowers in a vase that I found one day in the street when I was walking. I wanted to use them in a picture, something arty, pretty, maybe symbolic of something, but I haven’t found the time yet.
Ugh, I need to clean up. I work best in an orderly environment. That’s what I need to do first.
But I really need to start writing. I have the outline for the fourth story in ‘The Backroom Deal’ Series, ‘The Affair’, and the rough outline for the final story. Oh, and there’s a D&D story bouncing eagerly in my head. It is an idea I had for a Christmas story, but I ran out of time. I need to get to that, too. Plus, I have this other idea.
Oh, and there is something I have to edit, which needs to be done yesterday.
Oh, and I have to write an article for MyTrendingStories.com.
And there’s a photographer who wants me to write some text to some photos.
And I want to make my website better. I need to reorganize it, make it presentable.
And I want to find out about using studio space to take pictures. I have this idea for a Marie Antoinette photoshoot. I want the white wig, a bustle, and some other things. Where can I find a guillotine, or is that too morbid?
And I need to find time to start reading. “Black Swan Green” by David Mitchell is on a shelf behind me, accusing me of not finishing it, but I’m going to, really, I just need time.
And I need to get ready for the drawing to pick the winners for my Super Duper Sweepstakes.
And I think I want to make some posters to sell.
And… and… and… and… and…
FUCK, what happened to 2016 when things weren’t so busy?
Oh, well. I think I’m going to have some coffee, and maybe some cheesecake, then, maybe, I’ll start doing what needs doing. Or maybe I’ll take a walk. Maybe I’ll find some roses to smell.
It’s the first day of 2017 and there are going to be 364 more. Hopefully, it’ll be enough.
Happy New Year!
