The door in the wall, and why you should not go looking for it

I’m super thrilled and excited to announce that I have a new story out at my bookstore. YAY!!!! “THE DOOR IN THE WALL”, which is not a story for the faint-hearted. When I wrote this story, I tried to think of the things that scare me the most. And then I asked my friends what scares them the most. And, eventually, I had to make up some totally new scary things.

I had the idea for this story years ago, when I was watching someone working on a piece of wood––planing it. And then it popped into my head: what if a message were to appear in the wood right now? Something like: HELP ME! What would that be like? How would you react?

It’s basically this message appearing in wood that gave birth to this story. I’ve had this idea, like I said, for years, but I just couldn’t see a story there. All I could see was someone planing an old door that doesn’t close. So they take the door off the hinges to plane it. And then, ‘Help me!’ appears in the wood. Not good. But I couldn’t see much else, like, who finds the message? Why them? Why then? Why that door? Well, I finally got it all, wrote it, and now it’s ready to be read.

Anyway,  here’s the blurb:

The Willert House is a dream for Charli, an out-of-the-way, old farmhouse that’s in need of some fixing up. But fixing up reveals more than rotten wood. There’s a key that opens a hidden door that leads nowhere, an intercom hooked to nothing that whispers in the night, and unsettling life-sized dolls locked inside a wardrobe.

Charli is isolated in a house filled with watching eyes—photos under the bed and drawings on the walls.

She desperately needs to learn about the hidden history of the house. What did the Willerts bring with them when they came to the new world? What ancient evil lurks behind the hidden door? Who is crying for help?

Will Charli have time?

See you,
